2023 Renault Megane E-Tech Iconic lands as range-topping version

The main benefit of the Iconic is the standard-fit heat pump to improve efficiency

The Megane E-Tech has gained a new Iconic trim level to sit at the top of the all-electric hatchback’s range. Renault says the Iconic is based on the limited Launch Edition model, but gets a heat pump and additional paint options.

The heat pump (the design of which is apparently patented by Renault) is able to recover heat generated by the battery more efficiently to minimise impact on range. Renault says that when temperatures drop below 10 degrees celsius, the heat pump can increase range by up to nine per cent over Megane versions without the feature. The French firm still claims a maximum range of 280 miles on the official WLTP tests, however.

Buyers of the Iconic can choose from two-tone paint options with different shades for the roof and body. Unique 20-inch wheels also feature along with a gold blade front and rear inspired by Formula One, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a digital rear-view mirror and a 360-degree camera.

Inside you’ll find the same 12.3-inch driver’s display, nine-inch central touchscreen display, and Android Automotive with integrated Google services.

The powertrain remains unchanged with a 60kWh battery pumping out 217bhp to an electric motor mounted on the front axle. 0-62mph is the same 7.5 seconds and the top speed is also 99mph.

At £41,995, the Iconic commands a £1,000 premium over the old range-topping Launch Edition.
