McLaren 570S Track Pack revealed for 2017

The McLaren 570S Track Pack brings reduced weight, boosts downforce and comes with the P1's telemetry system

Fresh on the heels of the recently revealed McLaren 570S Design Edition is another extensive McLaren optional pack, this time with track driving firmly in mind.

The 570S Track Pack is a £16,500 option on top of the £146,150 starting price of the standard 570S, introducing styling and aerodynamic tweaks alongside some weight saving changes.

It doesn’t transform the 570S into a true Porsche 911 GT3 RS rival though – McLaren is pitching the pack to drivers who want to enjoy occasional track days without compromising too much on comfort and usability.

The Track Pack coupe tips the scales 25kg lighter than the standard car thanks to a lightweight interior package making use of Alcantara over leather  - you’ll find it lining the seats, dashboard and steering wheel. The seats themselves are new, lighter carbon-fibre racing buckets, and the diet is rounded off with a new set of lightweight alloy wheels.

The wheels get a dark ‘Stealth’ finish and are joined by other Track Pack visual upgrades such as the exhausts – also given the Stealth treatment – while the roof is finished in Dark Palladium.

One of the standout changes comes around the back with the inclusion of a 12mm taller rear wing boosting stability at speed. McLaren says it produces an extra 29kg of downforce at 150mph.

Buyers will also get McLaren’s Track Telemetry system – the same setup found on the P1 and 675LT. On track it provides real time information on lap times, sector splits and comparisons between drivers, while collecting data for post-drive analysis.

The Track Pack car doesn’t get any performance upgrades under the bonnet. It uses the same 562bhp twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V8 as the standard car, so by and large the performance figures are the same on paper. The 3.2 second 0-62mph time and 204mph top speeds remain the same, but it’s now a tenth of a second quicker to 124mph, managing the sprint 9.4 seconds.

Order books for the 570S with the Track Pack are open now with deliveries beginning early next year. All in, it’ll cost £162,650.
