Maserati Quattroporte gets styling tweaks and new trims for 2016

GranLusso and GranSport trim levels have been introduced to the facelifted Maserati Quattroporte saloon car’s range

Maserati’s four-door grand tourer, the Quattroporte, has gained a suite of minor revisions and styling changes. It’s on sale now, priced from £70,510 for a Quattroporte Diesel.

Exterior design changes include a new front bumper, which puts its design closer into line with the new Levante SUV, and chunkier air vents for the front end. What you might not be able to see, though, is the new electrically adjustable air splitter. Maserati claims that this, along with the other changes to the Quattroporte’s shape, improves aerodynamic drag by 10%.

Inside, the dashboard layout has been tidied up and there’s a new 8.4-inch touchscreen to control most of the car’s infotainment features. Again, the design takes significant influence from the Levante, and is now compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

All new Quattroporte models get adaptive cruise control with stop start, lane departure warning, a 360-degree camera and a new electric parking brake.

The new GranLusso trim focuses on luxury, with 20-inch Mercurio alloys, body-coloured spoiler and silk upholstery on the seats, doors, headliner and sun visors - something Maserati claims is an industry first. You also get an electric rear sunblind, four-zone climate control, heated rear seats and extended keyless entry.

GranSport, as the name suggests, has larger 21-inch alloy wheels, a sports steering wheel, sports seats and a gloss black interior finish. Both GranLusso and GranSport specs are priced the same, starting from £78,910. Engine choices remain the same for the Quattroporte, so you can choose from a V6 diesel, a V6 petrol or a V8 petrol.
